Summer nights
Lately I’m noticing major differences from living in an urban-like neighborhood in NJ compared to an ultra suburban one in SC.
Tonight I realized that on nights like these, when the weather was a bearably cool, I would open my bedroom windows and here the sounds of cheering from my high school which was half a mile away. Usually the cheering was for a football or soccer game.
Here in NJ, I hear sounds of neighbors only a few yards over singing “Happy Birthday” or having conversations (sometimes in Spanish). Even sounds of what seems like dogs getting tortured, but what are just those little annoying dogs yelping away. And the infamous sounds of ambulances, fire trucks and the police sirens.
Lately the weather has been beautiful and sun-bathing worthy. In SC, I lived far away from houses that I could practically sun-bathe. Not-so in Jersey. I see a lot of young women taking to the local parks to do some mid-afternoon tanning and I keep wanting to try it but the idea of less-than-respectable men gawking at me makes me too uncomfortable.
If only we could all look at the world through innocent eyes.
Another thing I miss is walking around my house in less clothing.
In other nerd news: I just installed my Canon printer and I feel set up for the world. I also still enjoy conversations with strangers about the new iPhone or other gadgets I see them toting around.
