You Have Two Options

starkravingchristian:

You cannot go back. You know the truth. The door has been opened and you have seen with your own eyes, another world.

You can’t pretend you never did.

Blithe ignorance is not longer an option.

Choosing not to choose, that’s a choice too.

One is to choose life on earth. To please yourself. Live today, knowing it may be all you have. It is to seek from the earth, from others, that for which your heart longs. It is to worship yourself above all others. It is to make you as your own god.

The other is to choose life forever. To strive to please your Maker knowing that by your own strength you will never be enough but in his love and sacrifice that you are perfect in his sight. To live today, knowing that while tomorrow as you know it has no guarantees, that there is a promise for your eternal tomorrow tha will never fade and is certain. It is to worship and adore, to love a God who is so big you cannot conceive of him, who is big enough to erase your existence with less effort than it takes you to breathe, to trust him to love you intimately. It is to make yourself a living sacrifice to God.

Can you go back? To your dreary everyday? To your gray cubicle, with no promise of change? Can you take back that beating heart, that passion, excitement, anticipation? Can you take back the first flush of true love? Can you step away from the greatest adventure anyone has ever had? Can you turn your back on a sense of belonging, of knowing, of fulfillment that you have ever known?

Can you chose to walk forward? To challenges and trials and opposition? To the pain of knowing that wherever you walk you will never be home so long as you’re breathing? Can you accept the life of a warrior, of choosing, always, the right path, even when it hurts. Can you live with the knowledge that you will never be enough, good enough, big enough, worth enough in yourself, but that you must depend totally on another for this, and in that dependance you have earned your reward? Can you chose to follow that which you do not, can not and will never understand?

Chose this day whom you will serve. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
